I had a difficult time trying to get the piece of tape to hold the collar during install . I solved this problem by using three window shims put behind the lock collar. This works better at this step of the install process. Then the next phase of installing the lock band went as designed and now I my tailgate is locked to it’s base . Plus the GMC tailgates come equipped with a keyed lockset that also keeps it secured also.

This lock is simple to install and offers great protection. Would not own a pick up without putting one on. Works great on my tundra.
