Mean Green High Output Alternator 8478

Replaced from OEM. Had it warranty replaced twice before I decided to switch back to Motorcraft.

Bought this 1yr and 3 months ago for my 2005 f250, that i don't drive that much worked well for that time, and took a crap, voltage regulator went out and started over charging . I have less than 3500 miles on this alt. for the price its a peace of crap. Don't waist your money.

Alternator was on for 5 miles and quit charging. Put known good alternator on and everything works like it should. XDP sends me to Mean Green for support. Mean green did send me a brand new alt. I have not used it do to already having a known good one on the truck. Mean green will not give me a refund and I did not see anywhere on XDP website that could not get a refund on this alt. Only on mean green website.

A word about MG Industries warrantee and Customer service. I ordered this for my '06 Powerstroke and it was DOA. Yeah, installed it correctly, all connections tight, new batteries yet no power output, nothing! I even took it to the local autoparts for testing. They ran it 3 times on their test machine.....nothing, dead! So now I'm thinking great, I spent all this money for the supposed best and it doesn't even work. So, I called MG Industies direct (got the number from XDP) and talked with Paul in Customer service. I explained the problem, the installation and subsequent testing at the shop. He said that's totally weird, we check every unit before it's shipped for performance. Both of us figure it must have been damaged in shipping? Although I will say their packaging is outstanding, all foamed in place in the carton. Nonetheless, he said they would make it right and ship a new one out right away. They would be sending a return shipping label (prepaid) and asked that I send the unit back so they could see what was wrong. REALLY?? They are paying for return shipping and sending me the new one before they even get the returned one? WOW! So, I received the new one today, put it on in about three minutes and it works perfect. So my review here at this point is for how well they guarantee their product. I am amazed, and so glad I chose this unit. I will update later how well it's working over time, but for now I am very very pleased with the results and the company standing behind it's product.

I put this alt on a '07 F-450 which is my service truck. I've got 2 computers in the truck, 1 that runs all the time. Aftermarket interior lighting, lighting in the service bed bays, lighting in the bed, lighting on the outside of the bed, as well as spotlights.. I typically have battery chargers going for power tools, a 400w inverter.. There is a huge demand on the charging system in this truck to say the least. It fried new factory alternators in about 2 months time. They'd be very hot to the touch as expected.. Bought this alt hoping it would be up to the task, and it works great. It's been on the truck for about 6 months.. I dont have to put the truck on high idle for it to keep up like I did the factory alternators, voltage is steady as a rock ( for what the PCM is commanding it to do anyways ). Stays cool to the touch. I couldnt be happier with it, even if by chance it failed tomorrow, I'd buy another one. I've got 3 other trucks, which are just standard trucks, but have winches, spotlights etc etc, when they fail I intend to install this alt. The price is just a tad higher than a new one from the dealership, but it's well worth it. The physical size, the weight of it is the first thing you notice.. It's not a piece of junk, if it was even in the slightest, it wouldnt have gotten a good review.
