if you buy a set make sure you keep a set of upper lock springs in the vehicle
jeremy (Southeast Wyoming) | December 18th, 2019
I have a set of these that I bought to replace the 1999-04 SD auto lock hubs on a 2000 f250 SD diesel. I did not buy them form XDP, I wish I had as customer service is excellent and they have helped me with anything I have bought from here. The original ford hubs were esof vacuum hubs and the outer seal failed to where you could not turn the selector and they would not hold vacuum. The MM449ss hubs were bought as a replacement. I have not had excellent service from these hubs. I have had broken upper ramp spring on far too many occasions. You have to properly clock the lock dogs to the ramp springs as these do not have alignment pins. The instructions do not detail this procedure. You will have to watch the video on the mile marker website. I try to keep a set of spare springs in the glove box, with a hex wrench of the proper size and a small snap ring pliers or seal pick to be able to change the upper ramp spring out when it breaks as there is a snap ring that holds it on. We recently had a nice winter storm (southern Wyoming/northern Colorado) with 16 inches of snow, high wind, and resulting drifts and ice. I broke a spring while locked in 4wd with a trailer on the truck, all three ears broke off the spring. I put my last spare spring in with a stuck truck in a drift in the dark, I properly clocked the parts and took the truck to the house. Two days later pulling out of the snowy and icy mill lot with a load of firewood on the trailer and truck, the same side broke an ear off and the hub unlocked. We pulled the truck with a tractor to the road, I took the hub off and pulled the spring and unlocked the opposite hub to get back to the house 60 miles away. I called for replacement springs and mile marker tech and sales support told me they are out of springs until after the first of the year, that was on December 6th, 2019. No parts available anywhere within 100 miles that I can find, online sellers also say none available. This truck now has a set of Warn 11690 hubs, parts are available everywhere to rebuild warn hubs. This set of mile marker 449ss will be relegated to the when all else fails spare pile when of if I can find new springs. My experience is these are light-duty hubs. If you are concerned with being stranded with no parts, I would buy a set of Warn hubs or find another set of Ford factory hubs either manual or esof. I would also make sure that if you bought these that the seller carries the spare parts as I have a hard time gettign spares.

Great locking hubs
Rob (New York) | November 1st, 2012
I got these hubs to replace failed warn hubs on my super duty, they are very strong and reliable and don't stick like the warns do. They are clearly better built hubs then warn and there cheaper!! Takes 5 mins to install and comes with everthing you need to install them. Also got to say that XDP has the best costumer service around!

M/M Junk
Mike (Kansas) | March 27th, 2014
These hub lockouts worked ok for about 6 months then they started sticking. Granted I bought them from O'Reilys but they're the same part. I replaced them with the Warn lockouts and I haven't looked back. Save yourself the headache, these are a waste of money.
