The Odyssey Extreme System battery delivers the massive starting power, rapid recovery, and deep cycling capability that modern vehicles demand. The Odyssey Extreme Series Group 78 battery puts out an astonishing 850 CCA (Cold Cranking Amps), and 1500 PHCA (Pulse 5-second Hot Cranking Amps).
Odyssey manufactures their batteries using flat plates made out of 99.99% pure lead, not lead-alloy like lesser competitors. The pure lead construction allows the plates to be thinner, so more of them can fit inside the case. More plates means more surface area, which equals into more power! Up to twice as much power as some conventional batteries.
In addition, Odyssey batteries employ dry cell Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) technology to contain the acid. This allows the battery to be installed in virtually any position, even on its side. For additional durability the batteries also feature Robust Intercell Connections. This provides additional protection against the high impact shocks and vibrations that often cause premature battery failure.
