Description
Get the PPE 125069000 Transmission Fluid Thermal Bypass Valve and extend the service life of the 10L80 transmission in your GM 3.0L Duramax LM2/LZ0. This easy-to-install billet aluminum Thermal Bypass Valve for the transmission increases cooling capacity. Internal passageways in the factory bypass are restricted and can fail in the open position, preventing transmission fluid from reaching the cooler. Mechanical failure or debris can cause this. The breakdown of the stock valves might cause the transmission to overheat, which is hazardous.
The demands of towing and hard stop-and-go driving situations decrease the life of transmission components without adequately cooled transmission fluid. The PPE Bypass Valve replaces the factory's extremely restrictive mechanical valve, allowing more fluid to flow into and out of the gearbox cooler. A Neodymium magnet-equipped service plug with an O-ring seal has been added for enhanced protection. The detachable plug collects ferrous material and can be removed to clean the system. This feature is not available on the stock bypass valve.

I just bought a new to me GMC and the tranny temps would easily hit 210 degrees on cold days with the truck unloaded. Since I'll be hauling a bunch and wanting to preserve that tranny I bought this before my truck hit 200 miles since I bought it. It was easy to install and now my temps are typically around 170-180. I did breach 216 a few days ago, but I was climbing a washboard road at slow speeds. Once I hit the pavement again it dropped right back below 200. Next I might do the PPE tranny cooler too. We'll see when I haul a 32' camper next week.
