Description
The S&B Filters 82-1000 MAP Sensor Spacer Kit will extend the life of the MAP sensor in your GM 6.6L L5P Duramax. The spacer is designed to drastically decrease the amount of soot that accumulates on the MAP sensor itself by spacing it away from the direct stream of the EGR. The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) and PCV (Positive Crank Case Ventilation) systems within your engine play an important role in managing combustion temperature, reducing NOx emissions, and ensuring that harmful gasses are not released into the atmosphere. These systems draw in unburnt exhaust gases and oil vapor into the combustion chambers, leading to lower combustion temperatures and reduced NOx production.
Without the S&B MAP Sensor Spacer installed, the MAP sensor's delicate electronics become clogged by the recirculated exhaust gas and sticky oil vapor, leading to inaccurate readings. Consequently, incorrect fuel calculations ensue, resulting in reduced fuel economy and power output. Installing the S&B MAP Sensor Spacer prevents the oily soot from building up on your MAP sensor by relocating it up and out of the contaminated exhaust stream. When I removed my MAP sensor I knew it wasn’t going to be a pretty sight, I never thought it was going to look the way it did though! I was able to scrape soot off in chunks! This relocation kit will keep it clean and long lasting.

1852489# 2017 5600 miles sensor was clogged up could see cleaned it up and installed a spacer. Install took 15 minutes from start to finish; very simple job. Time will tell how well it works but I think it will!

I decided to install this after reading reviews about it online. After only 5K miles on my 21' L5P my MAP sensor was coated in black soot. I wiped it all off and installed this piece, I will check again in another 5K miles to see if it made a difference. I can tell you that the quality is very good and packaged very nicely and comes with thread locker for the bolt.
