Description
The Sun Coast 618480307 48RE Valve Body for your 2003-2007 Dodge 5.9L Diesel is designed to enhance transmission operation and durability. In your transmission, the valve body controls gear selection, line pressure (clamping force), line rise (meeting torque demand), converter mode, flow and pressure, along with shift timing and quality. The Sun Coast valve body addresses all of these areas to increase performance in your transmission, allowing for crisper shifts, enhanced converter operation, cooler operating temperatures, and increased lube flow. Full-time converter feed assures lube flow while in the park position and under high throttle conditions. Torque converter clutch loc-up can be achieved in all forward gears when used in conjunction with a controller. This feature is desirable for optimum exhaust brake operation.

Ive used suncoast for years. Installing the VB is a simple procedure and I have yet to have to pull a pan back off to make any adjustments.Shifts are firm but not obnoxious. Line rise is just right and shift points are right on the money.Thanks.

Had a bad shuttle shift problem in my 48re. Decided to do a quick VB upgrade. Easy to install, I did it in my driveway in less than an hour. Instructions could have used some better photos in the cable adjustment portion but all in all pretty straight forward. I would suggest replacing the governor pressure solinoid, pressure sensor, and overdrive lockup solinoid while your there. Shifting was spot on firm but not obnoxious deffinately worth the $$

The SUN COAST 6188248 48RE VALVE BODY is a higher pressure, high performance valve body. This unit will aid in increasing transmission line pressure, increasing transmission horsepower capacity and improving shift quality. This valve body would be an excellent choice for a vehicle that is used for towing and also street/performance.
