Sun Coast SC-48-3-LC Category 3 48RE Transmission Rebuild Kit With Flex Plate

The Sun Coast SC-48-3-LC Category 3 48RE Transmission Rebuild Kit has everything you need to rebuild the 48RE transmission in your 2003-2007 Dodge 5.9L Diesel. This kit includes upgrades to the band, band actuation, servos, accumulator piston, torque converter, and input shaft. The addition of the billet intermediate servo, billet band anchor, and billet band strut allows this kit to address common failure points of 48RE transmissions. This kit also contains a new billet 4.4 band lever. The new thrust washer kit contains selective shims to properly adjust bearings. This rebuild kit also contains a band upgrade. In the category 1 and 2 kits a Raybestos Pro Series carbon fiber flex band is included, but for this kit a billet rigid band is included for additional durability. This band is CNC-machined from billet steel and then lined with carbon-graphitic lining to ensure superior performance over the factory band.

This kit features a billet one-piece input shaft that is precision ground to make it a true drop-in replacement. The billet input shaft is constructed from 300 maraging steel that is heat-treated, and stress relived to withstand the demands of higher torque applications. In addition to the input shaft this master rebuild kit includes an upgraded flex plate to replace the worn factory plate. The Sun Coast Flex Plate features a one-piece billet CNC-machined design. This new 48RE flex plate exceeds 29.3 SFI certification.

The last upgrade included with this kit is the addition of new forward and direct apply pistons. This Sun Coast Category 3 48RE master rebuild kit replaces the factory pistons with new billet apply pistons. The direct piston includes new custom calibrated springs. The forward piston is also replaced with a new billet piece. These allow for higher clamping forces without any deflection occurring. Giving a much more direct shift feel and can help avoid potential cross leaks within the drum. The combination of all the included components in this kit allows you to confidently rebuild the transmission on your 2003-2007 Dodge 5.9L Diesel.
