The Sun Coast SC-68RFE-BLUE 68RFE Transmission Solenoid Pack will replace the bad solenoid pack in the 68RFE in your Ram 6.7L Diesel with Blue Plug. The stock solenoid pack has a well-known history of failure. When any sort of failure occurs, metal debris, clutch material, and other contaminants are circulated throughout the transmission. That debris is going to make its way into the solenoids, and this debris in the solenoids now remains there. This debris can, and will, affect the flow and spray pattern of these solenoids.
In the early days, Suncoast took the liberty of purchasing a solenoid flow tester to verify the integrity of the solenoids. What they found is that the failure rate was greater than 60% due to contamination. Only about 10% of that 60% could be run through the flow tester with a special solvent to clean them enough to restore the flow and spray pattern rate. The competition may make the argument that they spent many thousands of dollars to check and verify these solenoids and clean them, but the only problem with this is that you are still going to have a significant failure rate.
Both SunCoast and Chrysler have documented that the factory boards on these solenoid packs flex, causing false pressure switch codes. So even if you spent 5+ hours restoring the spray pattern and flow rate, you still have a fatigued board that could cause false codes and drivability issues. SunCoast prevents this by throwing the OE solenoid pack in the garbage and replacing it with a new factory unit from Mopar. SunCoast also installs a custom-made solenoid spacer block to eliminate the flexing issue. Some may think that this is overkill and unnecessary, but they believe it is their duty to ensure that our customers get exactly what they deserve. No shortcuts taken and no corners cut.
