The vehicle speed sensor uses the output from your transmission, differential, or the wheel itself to relay the speed of the vehicle. Vehicle speed sensors often fail as they are likely to see issues from road hazards that can cause misalignment or damage. In addition, the repetition of extreme heat and cold, known as "heat cycling", can break down internal circuitry over time. Faulty wiring and damaged connectors from heat cycling and other contaminants can cause the sensor to stop functioning.
