Had to use the factory bleeder screw; the one y’all sent would leak and was too long to seal. Other than that seems fine.

LML WIF sensor fix
Zach (Kentucky) | August 22nd, 2025
Got rid of the wif sensor and upgraded filter. Can’t go wrong. Just be careful when installing the adapter, needs significant pressure to stay level while threading it on.

XDP Caterpillar Fuel Filter Conversion Kit
John (Kentucky) | April 16th, 2025
Finally installed this kit. Very easy to do. No printed directions, I found a XDP video online to help answer a question about the o-rings. It was very informative. I did a full Caterpillar filter conversion on my truck. I also installed the PPE Allison Deep Transmission Pan. The pan allows for an extra 4 quarts of fluid. My transmission has been about 15-20 degrees cooler so far. That's just some normal driving. I can't believe I waited so long to do this!

Super easy installation, definitely worth having if you have a CP4 pump. Noticed a big difference in fuel quality getting to the injectors.

Great Quality
Jesse (New York) | March 14th, 2024
Even holding the parts and bolts in your hand, it feels good quality. Install was easy, on LLY a 12 and 13mm wrench will be required. It makes it easier if you disconnect one single part of the intake and flop it up for more room if you dont have a ratcheting wrench. They give you hardware for new and old gen dmax too! Shipped 2hrs after order and arrived 2 days later. I’ve ordered from XDP before and they’ve always been good about that. Also, the WIF sensor can be unplugged and zip tied to harness, it will not turn CEL on or the “Water in fuel” light on dash. Stoked

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you remove the adapter each time you change the Cat filter?

This generally doesn’t matter as it can be done either way. We recommend using a strap wrench to hold the adapter in place while removing the filter. You can also use a paint marker to mark a location on the filter base and adapter to be sure the adapter is not moved from its original seal location.

Will this void warranty? Is fuel filter life in vehicle still accurate? Does the cat folter void warranty. Amd do you still use fuel filter life in vehicle
Please see our Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act page to answer your question on warranty: http://www.xtremediesel.com/magnuson-...

Filter intervals will be different so the info displayed by the truck may no longer be accurate.

Suggested Filter Service Intervals:

Used as the primary fuel filter – 10,000 Mile Intervals
Used as the secondary filter along with an aftermarket fuel filtration systems (Airdog, FASS, Fuelab, Etc.) – 50,000 Mile Intervals

(The CAT Filter does not offer a water relief valve. We recomend running a quality fuel additive that totally disperses water like XDP’s Diesel Power Plus additive.
What is the avg. miles between injector change? (Using this product) I am trying to decide if this is actualy worth it. I have not been able to find any concrete evidence that this product works.

Unfortunately I don’t think this exact type of testing exists. That being said, the facts of what the product is doing are within the numbers and the understanding of this data. The CAT Filter is over 99% efficient at removing particles from the 2-15 micron range and the OEM filter 60% efficient. Cleaner fuel has a much higher likelihood of prolonging the life of our sensitive injection parts.

What are the (4) bolts and the thing that looks like an E used for?
On you tube it says to remove the ball and spring check why?

Some may remove the spring and check ball when installing the XDP Duramax CAT Adapter with 1R-0750 Filter, but it is not necessary for installation.

Is it possible to get a new Oring for the adapter? Mine is wearing out and getting a flat spot on its edge.
Sure! See XDP item # XD228 below. This is really the only O-ring that would need servicing.
Would this adapeter work with a 2008 GMC Savana with the Duramax Diesel engine?
Yes, the XD171 will work with your 2008 GMC Savana 6.6L.
Videos show taking filter head apart and replacing o rings. It appears this can be installed without taking the housing and hand pump apart. Is this correct?
Yes, there is no need to take your OEM filter head apart unless you'd like to update the internal O-rings as a preventative measure during the install of your XD171.
Can you still use the stock fuel heater with the adapter?
Yes, the XDP Fuel Filter Adapter With CAT 1R-0750 Filter does retain the use of the factory fuel heater.
