The leaking dipstick flange occurs due to the factory O-ring inside the adapter swelling over time from oil exposure. The swelling causes the inner piece of the adapter to deform, leading to the outer nut loosening. Temporarily stopping the leak by tightening the nut only worsens the deformation of the inner piece.
