Description
Replace the problematic factory thermal bypass valve in your 2013-2018 Dodge Ram 6.7L Diesel before it causes catastrophic failure with the XDP Xtra Cool Transmission Cooler Thermal Bypass Valve Upgrade XD343. The OE thermal bypass valve is designed to route bypass the transmission cooler in cold temperatures in order to bring the transmission up to operating temperature faster. Unfortunately, the bimetallic valve commonly fails in the closed position, causing hot transmission fluid to constantly circulate right back into the transmission, never, or barely, passing through the cooler at all. This results in excessive transmission temperatures, potentially damaging your transmission and leaving you stranded on the side of the road with not only an expensive tow bill, but a costly repair bill as well!
XDP's Thermal Bypass Valve Upgrade utilizes an unrestricted straight through design, eliminating the recirculation aspect of the factory TBV. No more having to worry about when the factory part will fail you. By removing the passageway that returns hot fluid back to the transmission, fluid restriction is reduced, lowering overall transmission temperatures. A transmission that runs cool will last longer than one that's always hot. Installation is just like installing the OE part, requiring no cutting or modifications to the factory lines. To prevent leaks before they start, Four (4) new O-rings are supplied as well as two (2) quick connect fittings, making for a complete bolt-on kit for the 68RFE and Aisin AS69RC transmissions.

Great parts, well made. Just make sure to check the fittings on the thermal bypass. Mine were hand tight and leaked when I installed it. Tightened them up good and everything is good.

Installed before a long road trip. The block worked fine for the first 1k mi but then coming back from the trip it started leaking out the quick connect fittings in middle of nowhere Kansas, took some multi-duty rubber hose and eliminated block completely to get me back home. Going to try and put bigger o rings in and see if that takes care of the leaking issue. Other than that happy with ther performace of the block.

Fairly good quality, however, like many others mine started leaking out of the quick connects, going to pull apart and put in new o-rings this weekend, not super excited but it's not a big deal.

Just finished a 450 mile trip after the install. Before I would see 172-185 temps from the transmission temp gauge. On this trip the temp hung out around 162-168. Not the dramatic drop I was expecting. The ambient outside temperature never exceeded 83 degrees so not a hot day at all.
Leaking Issue

Went together easy, but started leaking on the quick disconnect side both fittings. Took it back apart and put thicker o-rings in the fitting and it took care of the leaking. Does lower the temperature to nothing above 132 degrees.

It’s overall a nice part. First off make sure the supplied fittings are tight before install. The second thing that I think would improve the part is on the inside of the part on the transmission side where the lines with the orings. This is my opinion but that side needs to be tapered like the stock one. Had issues with it leaking. I even had new oem orings. Plus for the price of this part at least it could come with two new orings. But overall it’s a nice piece!
