Tech Notes:
Depending on the conditions, a starter can pull up to 500 amps. These levels of amperage stress ALL components in the circuit including cables, terminals, batteries, and more. Problems with these components can be difficult to diagnose as they appear fine at rest and under a light load, but generate high resistance under heavy amperage draws. This results in low voltage to the starter while cranking, causing heavier amperage draw, and increased heat leading to starter failure. Batteries, cables and additional components should be checked and serviced regularly. Voltage measured at the starter during cranking should always be above 11V DC. Starter heat shields are not required, but are an excellent idea for heat protection.

6.0 gear reduction starter order #2142020

I ordered this starter to replace an older failing starter. My hope was to crank the motor faster for better cold starts in the winter. The new starter cranked slower than the old failing one. I had to order another one and send the original one back on warranty. Got the second starter and it is better but still doesn't crank as fast as I was expecting (cranks about as fast as a regular parts store starter that's 1/2 the money). For the money I'm going a different route next time. Gave 3 stars because it does start the truck but it doesn't seem to turn it over any faster than a standard starter.

Not the greatest quality coil pack spins loosely inside housing making tightening the positive cable very nerve racking it performs no different than a oem starter from Autozone save the money and buy from a parts store wish I did

The starter performs exactly as advertised and is a night and day difference from the original. I can’t give this any more than 3 star, I made this purchase specifically because it was claimed to be a 1/3 the size of the factory unit. In my specific case a physically smaller starter is what I needed to help with clearance of my compound setup. When I had the two starters side by side, they were identical in physical size. I'll start by saying well packaged and arrived quick. Good quality but the biggest pain to install. I would like to meet the braid dead person who designed this and slap them with the starter. The top bolt was the only issue only because one cannot possibly fit a socket on the bolt properly. Would be a lot better if the housing was clocked 3 degrees away from the upper bolt. Other than that works as it should but do not expect a quiet starter. Thing sounds like a bald eagle passing into an apache fuel tank while screeching the national anthem. Overall good product, just need some revisions to the housing in my opinion.
