Description
Add the Banks Power 42279 Ram-Air Intake System to your truck and deliver cooler, denser, outside air to the engine of your Ram 6.7L Diesel. The performance of this intake is thoroughly tested and verified using Computational Fluid Dynamics software, the flowbench, and is then installed on the vehicle. This cold air intake gives your diesel engine cooler, denser air for sustained pulling power and helps improve fuel economy. This intake drastically reduces airflow restrictions found in the stock airbox, filter, and intake tract and provides over 51% higher Mass Air Flow vs stock.
Maximum Mass Airflow
With the most airflow at the lowest pressure loss, this cold air intake allows your turbo to work less, spin slower, and make less heat to maintain optimal boost pressure. Compared to the competition, this intake is the only intake able to provide enough air into the Banks Monster-Ram Intake Elbow without acting as a throttle on the engine. When paired with a Monster-Ram Intake Elbow and 3.5” Banks Boost Tubes, maximum engine efficiency can be attained which helps deliver greater fuel economy and consistent power delivery.
Cold Air In
The Banks Ram-Air maximizes the OEM front Ram-Air funnel's capabilities by removing the factory airbox's "S shaped" rubber snorkel in favor of a direct connection to the front scoop. This enhances air density and lowers restriction within the sealed box, improving power and throttle responsiveness at high speeds. Fresh air is constantly pumped into the airbox from outside the engine bay, keeping intake temperatures low and density high.
Block The Heat
Both inside and out, the Banks Ram-Air combats heat. Its XLPE molded construction is more robust and lightweight than alternative metal tubes or heat shield designs, and it rejects external heat better. Even when sitting at a stoplight waiting for the next touch of the throttle, the huge internal capacity keeps that pool of fresh air shielded from the engine.

Causes ego code to set, Banks continues to sell and advertises it won't trip check engine lights.

I installed this in my new 2022 Ram 3500 6.7, and it trips my engine light every time I change engine load or driving conditions. I have been in communication with Banks for almost four years now and was supposed to have a new updated piece by December. I was told the last time by Benny I would get a refund and the piece due to the challenges with this case. I am about to purchase an intake elbow and grid heater delete but am uncertain whether to continue doing work with Banks at this point. Months later, I have no piece or refund. I am highly disappointed in the deceptive advertising and unethical customer support I encountered in this case. I strongly encourage anyone to do your homework before purchasing this.

Causes EGR code to set

Installation simple, noticeable difference in sound of the turbo, but unfortunately almost immediately caused an EGR EXCESSIVE FLOW code to set. Called Banks and they’re “working on a fix” that may include a redesigned intake tube or a module to plug into the MAF sensor. Really annoying. Was this product not tested before putting it on the market?? Very disappointed.

It does in fact make the turbo and exhaust sound louder on a 100% stock truck. Not sure of power or mileage increase yet.
