The Banks Power 48997 5" Single Monster Exhaust With SideKick Tip will help lower exhaust gas temperatures on your GM 6.6L Duramax L5P. The DPF-back exhaust system features 5" mandrel bent Aluminized Steel tubing and a massive 6.5 x 7.5-inch ob-round slash-cut exhaust tip. The factory exhaust measures 2.85” compared to the massive 5-inch outlet on this system that provides a 192% Greater Flow area than stock. This exhaust creates 85% less backpressure than factory exhaust, leading to increased fuel economy and more power. This tip practically eliminates exhaust backpressure after the DPF to provide a 15% reduction in exhaust temperature to prevent trailer meltdown. Available Cerakote high-temp matte black or chrome-plated polished stainless steel, this tip will not turn brown with heat.
Change Your Look
Duramax truck owners can choose from two huge 6.5 x 7.5-inch ob-round slash-cut exhaust tips available in high-temp Cerakote matte black or chrome-plated polished stainless steel. And, unlike other manufacturers, Banks' polished chrome tip will not turn brown due to the heat.
Drop The Pressure
The Banks’ negative back-pressure tip practically eliminates back-pressure after the DPF. Using a side-draft design that is like a rocket nozzle tip, exhaust gasses are pulled out of the end of the exhaust. This negative exhaust pressure produced an amazing 9% reduction all the way back to the turbo inlet when pressure sensors were fitted. As a result of the decreased drive pressure and parasitic losses, your turbo spools up quicker and your engine runs more efficiently.
Don’t Be Deceived
With the factory exhaust nozzle measuring 2.85” compared to the Monster Exhaust's giant 5-inch outlet, the Banks system offers a 192% greater flow area than the OE. This exhaust system features 89% less backpressure than the factory at the DPF and 9% lower at the turbine inlet, helping to provide more power and better fuel economy.
Drop That Heat
The Duramax L5P's Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is cleaned by regeneration, which involves driving for up to 20 minutes at extremely hot exhaust gas temperatures. The Monster Exhaust delivers a 15% decrease in exhaust temperature two feet behind the tip when the truck is in regeneration mode. The Monster Exhaust is directed out to the side of the truck, unlike the stock Duramax exhaust, which shoots a long, jet-like spray of superheated exhaust gas directly at anything being towed. In doing so, the heated gas is dispersed by ambient air, removing the possibility of trailer melting—a problem that numerous Duramax owners have noticed.
These exhaust systems do not fit Dual Rear Wheel (DRW) models.
Exhaust will not fit late 2023 model year trucks. Beginning in mid-2023, GM updated the ECM which altered several the emission sensors including in the exhaust. You can check for this change by looking for dual sensors on the intake manifold.
