it works good for stock trucks

I have everything that banks offers, under my hood. no tuners. The air filter did fall off a few times. this is caused by the air filter free standing inside of the air box only supported by the hose clamp and tube. I installed a 1/2 thick piece of rubber for the end of the air filter to rest on. I no longer have the issue of the air filter falling off. I drive on asphalt and gravel roads daily. This intake system worked fine until i added my 38r turbo. My old turbo was a stock (38) modified with a Banks wicked wheel with big head wast gate and an ats ported intake housing. As soon as I installed my 38r turbo I noticed massive air restriction, so I removed my banks ram air lid/top to allow for more air. After removing the lid I have noticed a better air volume (yes now its pulling more hot engine air, thats for another discussion) . the end results will be me removing the system for another larger air cfm system. I have had it for many years and was always happy with it (once i installed the 1/2 rubber piece to keep the air filter from falling off) works great for a stock turbo system.

Questions and Answers

Is this intake loud in the cab? I have a k&n cold air kit and it resonates loud in cab towing on interstate.

Answer

The Banks Power Ram-Air Intake System 42210 tends to be quieter because of the fact it has the cover over the filter. This cover resonates some of the audible turbo noise you would often get from a non-covered intake.
