The BD-Power 1041520 Killer Grid Heater Upgrade Kit addresses a major potential problem that can result in engine damage in your truck. This potential issue lies in the electrical connection to the intake grid heater in the intake manifold. When powering the grid heater, 200 amps pass through a small nut and bolt inside the intake and over time is known to fail and eventually arc and break off. This nut will drop into the engine, leading to massive damage to the piston, head, and valves.
There are various solutions currently on the market addressing this issue, but they can be very costly upgrades. These fixes drastically reduce the amount of heat available to the engine and typically require tuning or do not work well in colder climates. The BD Grid Heater Kit upgrades that faulty electrical circuit by eliminating the problematic bolt and nut inside the intake while retaining the factory functionality of the heater.
Features:
- Allows For Full Heat Output With Stock Intake Grid Heater
- Straightforward Installation With No Modifications Or Tuning Required
- Eliminates Problematic Grid Heater Bolt & Nut That Could Lead To Engine Damage
- Kit Includes Replacement Hardware, Gaskets, Along With Special Tools Required For The Job
- Self-Locking Threads Built Into The Lower Busbar To Prevent The Connection From Backing Out & Compromising Electrical Connection
Note:
2007.5-2012 model years require the use of a rotary tool with cutting disc or hacksaw to remove an aluminum tab on grid heater (See installation manual for detailed instructions)
