Description
XDP offers the BD-Power Duramax Exhaust Brake that is a great way to slow down when hauling or towing heavy loads in your 2001-2010 6.6L Duramax LB7/LLY/LBZ/LMM. This exhaust brake offers up to 150 retarding horsepower by incorporating BD's patented Variable Orifice Technology, BD's solid, spring-loaded cylinder, offset butterfly, and pressure regulation. This retarding power is available throughout the engine's RPM range, not only at high RPMs, as other designs that claim to use holes or additional parts do. This exhaust brake, which has BD's patented alumibronze bushing, piston ring-seals, and stainless-steel butterfly shaft, has proven to withstand the exhaust environment's tough, high heat temperatures. To prevent corrosion, BD's butterfly valve and rotating shaft are comprised of stainless steel.

This is a definite must have for anyone pulling large loads. I had my dealer install the unit, which I recommend, as it's not for the backyard mechanic. Use caution if you have a 5" exhaust, it'll work, but it took me some extra work to convert the unit. Once the somewhat tricky install was finished, the real fun began. This unit will almost stop my truck / trailer without ever having to touch the wheel brakes. It did increase my EGT's a bit, but that was expected. What I wasn't expecting is the stoplight intimidation I can create with the other potential tough guys. When gasoline engined foes hear the brake release, it'll make their heart skip a beat. If you're thinking of adding an exhaust brake, stop thinking and do it.

Does this work with my 2002 LB7? Says 01-02 but when selected says only LLY LBZ. How does it mount, inline? Very confusing trying to figure out which BD Exhaust brake will fit my truck. I'm looking for the one that mounts in line, under the truck.

The BD-POWER DURAMAX EXHAUST BRAKE BD1024311 will fit all 01-10 LB7, LLY, LBZ, LMM vehicles with a 4” exhaust.
