Description
The B&M 45199 Precision SportShifter For G56 helps to reduce shifter travel in your G56 equipped 2005.5-2018 Dodge 5.9L/6.7L Diesel. This shifter is manufactured from durable, 6061 T-6 hardened aluminum and CNC-machined for a precise fit and anodized blue for durability and a custom look. The internal components are composed of exceptionally durable 4140 Chromoly, and the shift-throw is reduced by almost 30% compared to the OEM shifter. B&M also raised the detent pressure to provide the transmission a substantially stiffer shift feel and keep the trans from jumping out of gear. The factory shift stick and knob are retained, and the shifter comes with a Lifetime Limited Warranty.

Tech Tip: While you do not have to drain the fluid in your G56 transmission to install this shifter, many will drain and refill the transmission as it's easy to fill through the shifter tower while it's out. Your transmission will take 6 quarts of fluid for a fill. It is common in the aftermarket for many to run an additional quart bringing the transmission fill to 7 quarts total to help reduce gear rollover noise common with upgraded aftermarket clutches. This is based entirely on personal preference. If you choose to add the extra fluid, Only 6 quarts will fit when utilizing the fill hole, the final quart will need to be filled through the shift tower.

Love this shifter! Shorter throw. You shift to the gear and you feel a much better solid click into gear. No comparison to stock. I have a southbend dual disc with adjustable slave cylinder. Dual disc clutches have more drag causing harder shifts. It helps to adjust the slave for more clearance to make shifts easier. Stock shifter has many welds holding it together. The detent ball retainer tack welds can break sending parts down through trans! B& M has no welds and has life time warranty. Order # 2141483

It's a much better design than the garbage stock shifter. This shifts well and won't fall apart and drop parts into the trans like a stock shifter. It's also less expensive than a factory shifter. So all around a win. Shifts are shorter and smoother than stock. Takes a little drive time to break in.

Don’t want to hate on the product but just so others may be aware, causes very stiff shifts with stock shifter lever. Ran it for a while just to try to get used to the throw and different firmness of gear engagement. I couldn’t do it, switched back to oem. Not a bad product at all, just not how I wanted my truck to shift.

Helped improve to more solid feeling shifts and also reduced the amount of gear noise inside the cab. Bought this to pair with a Extra-tall 18" shifter from Ohio Diesel Parts. It keeps close to factory shift throw distance with the taller shifter (about dash height).
