Cummins 5473238 Genuine Water Pump

Impeller fins were broken before I got it out of it's box. It appears that this pump has a better impeller design for moving coolant but as stated by another reviewer it is composite. My pump arrived in it's Cummins box, inside a larger XDP box. Both boxes seemed to have enough packing material to protect a water pump. Unfortunately 3 of the impeller fins were broken off inside the bubble wrap. Made me wonder what could happen if a fin broke off after you installed the pump... I ended up getting the Gates version of the pump with older metal impeller for my 5.9L. XDP handled the pump return promptly and easily, kudos to their process.

Part arrived in time. Was packaged well with no damage. It is an oem part as requested and seems to be of high quality. Impeller has more fins and is made of a composite when compared to the original metal impeller, but looks to be very heavy duty.
