Description
The Fleece FPE-L5P-FFBA-1719 Fuel Filter Upgrade Kit allows you to switch from the factory cartridge filter to a spin-on canister style filter in your GM 6.6L Duramax L5P. Canister style filters offer increased filter capacity and extended change intervals as well as giving you more filter options to choose from. The anodized billet aluminum fuel filter base has been designed to retain the proper fuel flow path across the PTC heating element to help ensure maximum efficiency in cold weather. The filter base installs in the same location as the factory cartridge filter base and includes quick disconnect fittings for an OE quality fit and finish.

After reading a few folks getting a $10k repair bill from the cartridge filter failing this was a no brainer. Hats off to the dude that did this in 15min. Probably took me an hour and a half start to finish. As another mentioned the instructions are crap when it comes to the fuel line disconnect.
I have a 23 dually so thankfully there's more space to work in. The filter is not attached to the frame, it’s on a bracket that is perpendicular to the frame. The “quick” connects are different on mine than the instructions had. For mine there is a lock that needs to be pulled up, then you can squeeze the tab to get it to release. Problem is there isn’t a lot of room on that tab to squeeze so it’s a dance trying to press down on the tab while not pushing the lock back down. After that everything goes pretty smooth and reinstall of new setup went super quick. Piece of mind not having to worry about the filter…it’s just a shame GM went backwards from a quality standpoint on the fuel filter compared to previous generations. Order 2201124

Smartest upgrade you can do, I always felt like I was going to break the stock cartridge filter housing. Having a regular spin on filter again is great. Installation is very simple and straight forward, took me about 15 minutes to install.

Great upgrade over the stock expensive filter that didnt do a great job. Instal was not the easiest but not the fault of the manufacturer. Parts seem solid and should last in the harsh ohio winters. 4 stars for the instructions not the product, they made the install more difficult. Order # 2579220B
