Get the protection you need for your flat tappet engine with
the Hamilton Cams 07-C-001 Zinc Additive. Zinc itself, along with many other elements,
are used in most engine oils. Zinc specifically is used because it’s a very
soft metal that acts as a great barrier of protection between two moving
surfaces. When rebuilding an engine that uses flat tappets it is imperative to make
sure you add zinc during the engine break in period to protect the flat tappet
and cam lobe surfaces so they can mate together correctly.
The Hamilton zinc
additive will bring the zinc and phosphorus levels up to approximately
1500-1650 parts per million (ppm) to ensure the mating surfaces of the
valvetrain have enough protection. This zinc additive can be used during every
oil change in competition engines and should be used during an engine break in
period for daily-driver applications.
