Quick install, much larger and heavier unit than stock. The OEM bracket had to be relieved slightly in one area to clear the case. 14.2v at the batteries just moments after starting, with 170a measured at idle. The Ford harness is too light and doesn't fit the alternator stud, so an upgrade is needed there as well. Alternator temps have been staying within spec even with heavy aux loads.

2005 6.0 Powerstroke dropped right in. The only thing needed is a heavier cable, as this puts out more than the stock cable can handle. There are a lot of counterfeit parts out there, and you need to be careful. This is a genuine Prestolite alternator. I highly recommend purchasing from XDP.

2001 7.3L with 220k mile. Have you seen the price of batteries these days!? I have used both G3 and G6 alternators on this rig. Some with stated upgraded components. None gave the idle charge voltage I wanted for the dual batteries, added compressor, and fuel system. I upgraded to this 230amp alternator and I love it. I also added a extra breaker protected charge wire and chassis ground to the batteries. Voltage is perfect moments after ignition at idle. It is a big alternator and require spacers of up to about 3/8" of an inch but in my case I had altered the mount with a die grinder to accommodate the larger ford alternator before so I did a minute amount more and add a 1/8' washer to make things happy.

I used the Autozone Gold altenator for my 2002 Ford F-350, 4X4 dually. It continuously ran at 13.4-13.8 amps. I live in Elk country and I run a lot of off road lights.
I decided to upgrade to this high output altenator and wow…turning everything on the amps are running 14.0. When I turn off my accessories, the alternator pushes 14.2 amps.
To reinforce a previous review, I upgraded the wiring to 4 gauge wire to support the high amps output. I installed circuit breakers as opposed to using fuses.
An awesome option with this alternator is, it’s rebuildable. That’s a huge benefit. The rebuild kits are sold through the manufacturer.
