I had a difficult time trying to get the piece of tape to hold the collar during install . I solved this problem by using three window shims put behind the lock collar. This works better at this step of the install process. Then the next phase of installing the lock band went as designed and now I my tailgate is locked to it’s base . Plus the GMC tailgates come equipped with a keyed lockset that also keeps it secured also.

This lock is simple to install and offers great protection. Would not own a pick up without putting one on. Works great on my tundra.

I have a 2007 Silverado LT, will this lock fit my truck?
It depends if your truck has the new or "classic" older bodystyle. The McGard Tailgate Lock 76029 will not work with the 2007 “Classic” older body style.
Does this fit 2015 Tacoma? It is suppose to fit 2012 Tacoma, aren't all Tacomas the same 2005 to 2015?
McGard states that at this time they have only tested this product on the 2012 model. Unfortunately we cannot confirm fitment on anything other than a 2012 Tacoma.
Will it fit a 2016 F250?
