The Mopar 68038087AA Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor Tube ensures accurate exhaust back pressure readings, which are critical for proper emissions system function. Over time, the original tube can become clogged with soot and carbon buildup, often leading to false sensor failure indications. In some cases, the blockage prevents the sensor from receiving correct pressure signals. Because cleaning components like this can be difficult and unreliable, many replace this tube to ensure a complete repair and eliminate variables during diagnostics.
Tech Tip:
This tube mounts to the exhaust manifold and runs to the sensor block in the front of the engine where the Exhaust Backpressure (EBP) Sensor is mounted. When replacing this tube, also inspect and clean the sensor mounting block/housing to ensure its passageways are clear. A clogged mounting block can cause similar issues and inaccurate readings.
