Gain control of your vehicle with proper steering when you add the RedHead Steering Gears 2879 Steering Box (4-Bolt Cover) to your 2003-2008 Dodge Ram 2500/3500 (For Trucks With OEM Gear Box). RedHead is a family owned and operated company with more than 40 years of experience providing quality remanufactured steering boxes. Made for a direct-fit replacement, this Steering Box does not require any modifications for installation. Every RedHead Steering Box is remanufactured from quality materials to be better and stronger than the factory unit.
This box is not for use on trucks that have the 6-Bolt top cover Mopar Upgrade.

HOW DO I BLEED, OR PURGE AIR, FROM MY STEERING GEAR BOX SYSTEM?
1. After installing the gearbox, fill the system with fluid.
2. Raise the front wheels off the ground, do not start the vehicle.
3. Work the steering wheel back and forth, lock to lock, 15-20 times.
4. Leave the vehicle sit (overnight is best) at least 2 hours
5. Top the pump reservoir off again.
6. Work the steering wheel back and forth again 7-10 times
7. Have a person in the vehicle and another at the pump reservoir with a container of fluid & funnel ready to pour if necessary.
8. Instruct the person in the vehicle to start the engine. As soon as this happens, if the fluid level drops, be ready to pour in more fluid. The level must be kept at an almost full level or it will suck in air again.
9. If this procedure is followed properly, the air problem will be solved.

WHAT POWER STEERING FLUID SHOULD I USE?
RedHead highly recommends using the same fluid that the manufacturer of your
vehicle recommends. It is always best to use a name-brand fluid. Their
power steering gears are tested under pressure with Dexron 3 ATF before
they leave the factory. If you decide to change from what the manufacturer
recommends then Dexron 3, or comparable fluid, is an acceptable alternative.
ARE REDHEAD GEARBOXES SENT OUT IN CENTER POSITION?
Yes, they are sent out on center.

Sloppy after 4 months

Upon installation it drove good as new with a new added stabilizer kit, however 4 months down the road it has almost the same amount of play that the old original one did. Also to note the ball joints and all steering linkage was replaced at the same time. The core refund also took a bit of time. I wouldn't buy another
