Description

Increase longevity and performance of the transmission in your truck with the XDP 5R110 Modified Direct Clutch Solenoid XD306. While the 5R110 is a very stout transmission, there are some flaws. When a gear is commanded, a solenoid applies fluid to the appropriate clutch. Under normal conditions and stock horsepower levels, the factory solenoid is sufficient. If any performance upgrades have been made, you will quickly max out the capabilities of the factory solenoid. This causes clutch slippage, and over time will lead to transmission failure. 

The XDP 5R110 Modified Direct Clutch Solenoid provides more fluid, at a faster rate to keep up with your performance built truck. This not only extends the life of your transmission, it also provides you with crisp, firm shifts. The direct clutch is used in 5th gear and reverse. Don't be fooled by the others, XDP is the exclusive manufacturer and distributor of the modified 5R110 Direct Clutch Solenoid. All solenoids are built from brand new parts and are tested in-house on a Solx 2000 Solenoid Tester.

Installation Notes: 
The included plastic cap must remain installed on the end of the solenoid or damage to the transmission can occur. 
In some instances aftermarket transmission tuning will not work with the XD306 due to the tuning commanding excessive line pressure. 

Alignment Tabs: 
Unlike the factory solenoid, the XDP XD306 Modified Direct Clutch Solenoid features centrally located alignment tabs rather than the OEM’s low-positioned tabs near the base of the connector. This isn't a mistake, it's intentional. We use a solenoid with center tabs so it is easily identified that it is NOT the OEM direct clutch solenoid

I had the same issues as everyone else, late shifts and would loose 5th after warmed up unless I let it sit over night again. So looked into codes and said solenoid. So I thought I'd try this before buying transmission and boy let me tell you what. Did this make a world difference. After building my 5R110 6 years ago, this was a way of going away from tuning my 5R110 with only tuning the engine only. This build had everything billet with a big stall triple disc converter to handle the 700hp that chattered under the hood. Did amazing till yesterday. I’ll have everyone know this is my toy and gets treated like a race truck. It finally went out and I lost 5th and reverse. Gave a P0766 and a P2703 code which directly leads to this solenoid. Trans fluid is still pink with no noticeable signs of clutch material in the pan. Long story short, it smooths out the shifts with the big converter and shift kit. Out does trans tuning. Im happy to order this product again and install it in my 5R110. Even if it only lasts another 6 years, it took a HARSH 6 year beating and kept my trans in check as iv had no other issues with my build! 100% recommend to any trans builder out there, let alone anyone looking for a easy 2hr project to keep their factory trans in the best shape, or anyone looking to beat on their toy!
