The XDP Fuel Filter Adapter, Bleeder Screw & Spacer with CAT 1R-0750 Filter is an easy way to change the fuel filter on your 2001-2016 GM 6.6L Duramax. The durable anodized filter adapter simply threads on to the OEM Filter Head and allows you run the Advanced High Efficiency CAT Filter on your truck. For an even easier filter change, a filter head spacer is included to give you more clearance for filter changes, along with an aluminum bleeder screw to replace the factory supplied plastic version that is commonly damaged during routine maintenance.

Pretty straight forward install. The only problem I had was the adapter would not seal against the factory housing, so I put some silicone on top of the o-ring and sealed right up. I did notice that the smoke looks a lot darker then it did before it'd always a little tint to it like every diesel pickup but now it's just pure black smoke

Everything feels good quality. Haven’t installed it yet though. Came with extra seals which is nice. No stickers in the box so that was a disappointment. 4/5 because no stickers.

Overall satisfied, the only thing is the large O-ring sent with the kit wouldn’t seal from the adapter to the factory filter housing. I was able to reuse the O-ring from the factory filter I removed.

What about the water in filter (WIF) sensor that goes on the bottom of the factory filter?
The Water in Filter (WIF) sensor at the bottom of your factory filter is disconnected. This sensor can be saved or discarded as it will not be re-installed. (Removal of the WIF sensor will not trigger a check engine light.)

In our opinion, you’re better off running a quality fuel additive that totally disperses water like XDP’s Diesel Power Plus additive. How offten would this fuel filter need changing? I also did not see if the fuel filter has a water relief valve.

Used as the primary fuel filter – 10,000 Mile Intervals
Used as the secondary filter along with an aftermarket fuel filtration systems (Airdog, FASS, Fuelab, Etc.) – 50,000 Mile Intervals

Is the CAT filter more prone to clogging from fuel gelling?
Diesel fuel can begin to cloud around 32ºF and gelling can begin as high as 10ºF - 15ºF (depending on fuel quality and location). Gelling of diesel fuel can only be avoided by using fuel additives to lower the cloud and gelling point of your fuel. Running untreated diesel, in these weather conditions, can clog filters regardless of the filter micron.
Can this be ran without an aftermarket lift pump?
Absolutely, the XDP Duramax CAT Adapter can be run on vehicle with or without aftermarket fuel systems.
