For corrosion protection and improved aesthetics, this alternator has an ultra-durable wrinkle black coating. I had purchased a Bosch factory equivalent alternator from another vendor and within 48 hours it began over charging and MURDERED a set of batteries. Rather than replacing the Bosch with another Chinese electrical wonder turd, I started hunting for the BEST alternator for the 5.9 24V. The XDP Unit is a NEW MANUFACTURE, NOT A CORE! It's backed by a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty AND they actually test the unit and include the results with it. I do not know what county manufacturers this unit, but so far it's proving to be the BEST ALTERNATOR FOR THE 04.5-07 5.9 24V trucks.
