The Banks Power 42797 Raw Monster-Ram Intake & Heater Grid Upgrade will increase airflow and help protect the engine in your Dodge Ram 2500/3500 6.7L Diesel. The Banks Monster-Ram can enhance throttle response and fuel economy by removing airflow restrictions. By replacing the failure-prone OEM grid heater with the high-flow billet intake plate from Banks, severe engine damage can be avoided.
A True Monster Of A RAM
This intake elbow lives up to its name as it is an absolute
MONSTER and Banks Power pulled out all the stops when developing it. Get
better throttle response you can feel and potential mileage gains your
wallet will appreciate.
What It Does
The Monster-Ram improves airflow from the intercooler. The
Banks intake flows 72.7 lbs/min with the included Coil Heater and
High-Flow Billet Intake Plate compared to the factory intake's 38.6
lbs/min MAF. That is a massive 88.3% improvement over stock you can
feel. The patented design helps increase boost without raising back
pressure at the turbine, resulting in improved engine response,
efficiency, and headroom for heavy hauling and daily driving. Two
devices on your diesel engine increase air density; the turbocharger and
the intercooler. Anything in the intake tract that doesn't help air
density cuts air density and the Monster-Ram is designed to get back
that lost air density.
It's All About Mass Air Flow
The quality and literal weight of the air it flows is the
secret to the Monster-Ram's performance, not just airflow. Your diesel
engine is restricted in the amount of air it can flow through its 6
cylinders even at peak RPM. Your stock tune engine will breathe more
effectively and with less strain by increasing the amount of air
delivered to each cylinder, which will pave the way for significant
power gains when combined with a tune.
How They Do It
Through its small, squashed inlet, your diesel engine
struggles to breathe the tremendous amount of air it needs. The Banks
Monster-Ram has a broad, unobstructed, free-flowing path, whereas the
stock horn reduces boost at the same flow.
Engineering a better solution
The No. 1 fuel line blocks the airflow path, compromising all
other replacement manifolds as they do not account for this
obstruction. The Monster-Ram's specially designed fuel line provides
unmatched airflow. All of this is possible without a programmer.
Monitor everything
Four 1/8" NPT ports on the Monster-Ram allow you to install
flow, pressure, or temperature sensors if you already have an iDash
setup.
Prevents Broken Bolt Engine Failure - Ticking Time Bomb
A nut and stud from the OEM heater grid have been known to
come free and fall into the intake manifold as a result of heat,
vibration, and time. It will then roll downhill into cylinder #6,
resulting in a catastrophic failure that necessitates a full engine
rebuild or replacement due to damaged pistons, bent valves, and a
cylinder head.
The Stock Heater
Chokes Performance
The stock heater obstructs airflow and attracts carbon and
soot accumulation. The Monster-Ram comes with a specially machined
high-flow billet intake plate for optimal performance. For maximum air
density and zero restriction, this plate has an enlarged inlet CNC port
that matches the Monster-Ram and is machined to an optimal thickness.
Make Way For AirflowFor
the Monster-Ram, the Banks experts created a brand-new heating system
with very little airflow restriction. Inside the Monster-Ram, this
Banks-only coil heater is positioned vertically without obstructing
airflow. This enables the Banks High-Flow Billet Plate to be used in
place of the OEM grid heater. This preserves OEM-like cold weather
engine start performance while removing the possibility of engine
failure from pieces coming loose and dropping into the engine.

Installation Tech Tip:
The MAP Sensor on this truck is mounted to the back of the intake elbow which you will be replacing with this Banks Monster-Ram. While replacement of the MAP Sensor is not required during the installation of this product, soot buildup over time can affect sensor accuracy by interfering with the pressure and temperature readings. For this reason, many take the opportunity to inspect, clean, and replace the MAP Sensor if necessary.
