The GM 12642623 Fuel Filter Head Assembly for your 2004.5-2010 GM 6.6L Duramax is an OE factory replacement for your GM Duramax. Over time, the stock fuel filter head can leak or become damaged causing poor running conditions, hard starting, and more.
This Fuel Filter Head is a genuine GM part that will restore proper operation to your fuel system and is a direct replacement for the stock unit. A fuel filter, Water In Fuel (WIF) sensor, and air bleeder screw are included with the head assembly to ensure you have everything you need for installation.

So far so good. I have rebuilt these filter heads so much I can about do it with my eyes closed, as well as trying aftermarket heads. I installed a lift pump a while back and the old one worked for a while, until I got tired of it leaking externally so I bought this one. 2 weeks in and bone dry! I’m pleased!

I have been chasing prime loss for almost 2 years. I have replaced lines under the truck and had my old filter housing rebuilt. Seem to to help, then it started again and when i went to prime it i noticed a leak on the housing again. I decided to eliminate the housing. So far so good. Also seems to fire up quicker. I ordered this on Monday night and had it on the truck by Thursday. They are easy to put on if you do any mechanic work. Took me about 45 minutes, would have been less but decided to find some regular hose clamps to put on the fuel lines. Which i would recommend over trying to fight the squeeze clamps.

The GM 12642623 is a direct fit for 2004.5-2010 GM 6.6L Duramax 6.6L.
That being said, the Fuel Filter Head Assembly can be used on LB7 applications. This requires additional fuel line and rerouting to work properly. (You will not have the ability to reconnect the filter head heater wires. This will not cause any CEL’s or issues.)
