The XDP HD Replacement Battery Cable Set XD428 is a superior replacement for the frayed or corroded battery cables in your 1999-2003 Ford 7.3L Powerstroke. Old or damaged battery cables can cause a multitude of issues in your truck. From poor charging to hard-starts and even no-start conditions. Improperly maintained or failing battery cables can also cause strain on your electrical system and leave you stranded.
The XD428 Battery Cable Set is constructed from a 2/0 (or 00 AWG) wire for superior conductivity and durability. Each cable end features crimped-on tin plated copper terminals for a secure long-lasting connection. As an added step, an adhesive lined heat-shrink wrap seals the terminal crimps to prevent oxidization and battery fumes from shortening the life of the cables. Each kit comes ready to install with military style battery terminals, terminal covers, and wire loom for added protection.

Purchased this kit for a 2002 Ford F-350 7.3L, and the website says it fits in the vehicle fitment check. However, you will need a tap and die to widen the bolt hole on the engine block end of the negative cables. Each cable comes with labels that are somewhat confusing. It would have been nice to have a simple one-page explanation, other than shorthand notes on labels. The labels made me question what should have be a common-sense installation. Other than those two issues, I’m satisfied with the product.

My original terminal connectors were stretched out and loose. Started to have charging issues and batteries wouldn't last more than a year. I replaced the cables with XDP kit and truck started like the day we bought it. Kit fit perfect and easy install. Note: for perfect fit, get flattop AGM batteries. Traditional water filled batteries bind passenger side positive military connector.
