Description

The XDP Coolant Filtration System XD143 is designed to filter solid particles from your trucks coolant. Contaminants such as casting sand and sediment are known to damage many components in your cooling system. By removing these contaminants you are able to extend the life of your coolant, water pump, EGR cooler and other vital components. The XDP Coolant Filtration system does not require any modification to your factory hoses. Our pre-assembled, high-quality silicone hoses simplify the install and provided a clean finished look without using multiple ugly hose clamps. The included ball valves are extremely helpful for minimizing coolant loss during filter changes and also provide a shut-off to bypass the system should you ever need it. Quality kit except...

Cust # 1480467. The kit includes everything needed to install this coolant filter system. I cut some excess length from small hoses going to the radiator and overflow bottle to improve fit. I also cut about an inch off the supplied 3/4 hose and about 1-1/2 inches from the existing heater hose to maintain clearance from the turbo exhaust pipe. I was I bit difficult to retain the coolant in the system while working by myself; a second person's finger or a cap would have been helpful to retain coolant while trimming the hoses. Be sure to pre-assemble the base. filter, ball valves and hoses threaded connections. The improvements I suggest is a stainless steel "Tee" fitting instead of the supplied plastic fitting and better ribbon pipe sealant. The supplied is very thin. Got some pics if wanted.

Seems to be a quality addon.

The quality of the components seems to be very good. I marked of 1 star because the product pictures showed Blue hoses but they are black and I bought this one because of blue hose. I only have about 500 miles on it so far but no leaks. The install took me about an hour. I installed per instructions using the 5/8" extension but that put a slight kink in the heater hose and pushed it uncomfortably close to the exhaust downpipe. I removed the extension and cut into the factory hose. Aslo trimmed the 3/8" hose a bit for looks.

Questions and Answers

Will this work on a 08 F250 6.4L?
View Staff Answer
Answer
The XDP XD143 is not intended for the 08-10 Ford 6.4L.
CARB Compliance Is this product California CARB compliant? If not, do you know the issue?
View Staff Answer
Answer
A coolant filtration system should not require a CARB (E.O.) number beings the item has nothing to do with the vehicles emissions. If an item increases a vehicle’s emission above factory specifications, it’s considered illegal for use on public roads in states that have adopted the CARB emissions standard. Will this still fit if I have an aftermartket intercooler installed on the truck?
View Staff Answer
Answer

The XDP 6.0L Coolant Filtration System could require slight modification on trucks with an aftermarket intercooler. (The filter base is mounted through a stud on the left of the radiator, which in most cases would not change with an aftermarket intercooler system.)

Any issues when temps go below -20? Any freezing issues?
View Staff Answer
Answer
The filters are rated for extreme weather conditions and have no issues with the cold.(Be sure your running the proper coolant for the application and that its rated beyond the lowest temperatures in your area.)
