This week the XDP crew made its way to Piedmont Dragway in North Carolina to exhibit and race in the fall finale to the Outlaw Diesel Super Series. Things kicked off Friday with a bit of a change in drag racing plans due to a potential weather threat for Saturday. Instead of the XDP Race Team running a single qualifier on Friday, we ran the entire pro street class on Friday to ensure the popular class could get completed and enjoyed by race fans.
The XDP Race Team had a solid qualifying pass to kick things off, running the 1/8 mile track at 6.34 @ 109 mph to get into the show. However, in our first round pass we ran into mechanical issues on the starting line which knocked us out and ended our day early. Although we were disappointed in being eliminated, it was a great call by the officials to complete the class on Friday. We then moved onto helping other friends and racers, even jumping in to lend a hand with Dan Scheid as their team experienced mechanical issues, which just like us, left them on the starting line in their last round.
One of the more anticipated races of the day was the final round of Pro Street which saw Ryan Milliken and Ben Shadday face off. This was the first time these two had lined up against each other in a Pro Street final this season and Friday’s race went to Ben Shadday by a slim four hundredths margin.
Meanwhile, the vendor midway was busy Friday and also Saturday (even during the rain). We saw a lot of customers and friends and it was good to see so many familiar faces stop by the XDP booth. A big thank you to Rudy’s staff who worked extra hard even during the rain to make sure everything went smoothly and make sure everyone was comfortable.
XDP enjoyed attending and supporting all the ODSS events this year and we thank series organizers for a great inaugural season.
