Every year the diesel community invades Bowling Green, Kentucky for the TS Performance Outlaw Diesel Drag Race and Sled Pull. This year was no different! Competitors from all around the country came out with their race and sled pulling trucks in tow as well as thousands of spectators to witness the horsepower, torque, speed and carnage that these diesel machines can produce.
Even though Friday morning began with less than favorable weather conditions, Beech Bend Raceway was quickly filling up with competitors, vendors and spectators who were hoping that the rain held out for the day. We watched several trucks and even diesel powered muscle cars run down the track before the afternoon rain set in to ultimately cancel drag racing for the day. As the rain came down, the track emptied out and racers, vendors and spectators all hoped for a dry Saturday.
Saturday came and it was just what we hoped for. While cloudy and uncertain in the morning, the rain held off and events went on at both locations. Making up a day for the rain cancellation, the drag racing continued at Beech Bend Raceway while the rest of the crowd was in Franklin, KY anxiously awaiting the late afternoon bikini contest and the evening sled pull.
As the day went by the weather became nicer and nicer. Around late afternoon, the crowd shifted down the hill from vendor alley to the annual TS Performance Outlaw Bikini Contest. The TS Fuel Girls started the show by throwing out some freebies to the crowd. The 28 girl line-up kept the crowd energized as the judges tallied up their scores and crowned the winner as Ms. TS Outlaw 2013.
Shortly after that, the stands and every area around the 3 lane sled pulling track were filled to capacity as the highly anticipated tractor and truck pulls began. The entire crowd watched as the top sled pulling trucks in the country hooked to the sled and went down the track.
As always, the TS Performance Outlaw Diesel Drag Race and Sled Pull is a great time for everyone. As one of the biggest events in the country it must be on your diesel to-do list.
