Round 3 of the NHRDA season had XDP headed to the deep south last weekend for the 1st Annual South East Truckin Nationals in Adel Georgia. After struggling with rain on race day in Gainesville Florida the past two years, this year’s move to South Georgia Motorsports Park (SGMP) in Adel proved a better choice for diesel race fans. Saturday morning began with great weather in Adel, with only a few raindrops falling as things were being set up. That worried those of us who had been rained out in prior years in Gainesville, but things quickly cleared up and the weather was perfect the rest of the day and night.
In addition to better weather, Adel also featured sled pulls following the drag racing, something Gainesville didn’t offer. The sled pulling was very popular with fans and the crowd grew as the action moved from the drag strip to the infield of the SGMP ½ mile oval where the sled pulling track was built. Although attendance was lower for Adel than at this season’s Bakersfield and Texas events, Adel seemed to draw more fans than we’ve seen in Gainesville the prior three years.
It would be nice to see this event gain momentum and become a regular event on the NHRDA schedule. In addition, I can’t say I’ve encountered a nicer group of race fans than we saw on Saturday….true southern hospitality is on display and very much appreciated.
Below are the results from Adel of all the racing action from Saturday at SGMP.

Also, we are happy that Wade Moody is ok and was able to walk away from his accident during the race against Ryan Milliken in the DirtyMax. Finally, a big thank you to Rick from MBRP, Chris from BD Power, and our many other vendors and customers for supporting XDP at this event. XDP will be exhibiting at Gateway Raceway in St. Louis on May 17th for Round 4 of the NHRDA season so come see us. Those further east who are unable to make the St. Louis event can also visit with XDP staff and see the XDP Diesel Powered Monster Truck Team compete at the Lima Ohio 4Wheel Jamboree taking place May 16-18 at the fairgrounds in Lima. We hope to see you at one of these exciting events later in the month!
