Mechanicsville, MD, July 14th, 2024 – This past Sunday XDP was at Maryland International Raceway in Mechanicsville, Maryland for 2024 XDP Truck Mania! This year proved to be a battle with mother nature as the track had to reschedule the event several times. Despite the setbacks, the event was successfully held on Sunday, July 14th.
There was rain prior to the event, but Sunday proved to be a great day! Even with the heat, diesel fans came out to see some great looking trucks perform at a high level. Visitors got to enjoy a variety of class 8 trucks hauling down the track. The famous Bone Shaker, a custom built 1981 International Transtar 4300 race truck, boasting 18,000 HP with 12000lbs of thrust from a J79 General Electric Turbo Jet Engine, was in attendance and ran yet again this year. After their first pass, the crew of the Bone Shaker didn’t feel that it met their lofty expectations. Dedicated to putting on a great show for the fans, they decided to run again. When the boneshaker ran again, unfortunately the engine blew and resulted in a fire. Thankfully, the crew stated the damage was repairable and they look forward to returning to this event next year.
The XDP staff was on hand at our booth to meet and talk with enthusiasts about XDP’s line of products. While the weather may have held us off a few times, we were glad to get out and enjoy a day with the diesel community and see some trucks go down the track.
