2019 Diesel Power Challenge

Event Overview

Marking our 9th year, XDP has teamed up with our friends at Diesel Power Magazine to bring you the 2019 Diesel Power Challenge! Unlike most competitions, these competitors are hand picked by you, the fans! Readers of Diesel Power Magazine cast their ballots and pick their favorite trucks they would like to see throw down in DPC. The 2019 line-up includes 5 Rams, 2 Fords, and 3 GM’s.

Diesel Power Challenge pushes the capabilities of diesel performance to the next level! Having a consistent and well-rounded truck is a huge part of the recipe for victory in the Diesel Power Challenge. Each competitor must run their truck through several tests and finish at the top of the pack to be crowned the Diesel Power Challenge Champion. Each truck will be pushed to its limit by competing in the Dyno, Drag Racing, Sled Pull, Trailer Tow Drag Race, complete the Trailer Tow Obstacle Course, and be tested for Fuel Consumption during this multi-day event!

The Diesel Power Challenge is closed course event that will be taking place in the greater Denver Area from June 3rd – June 6th. Watch it here, LIVE as the action unfolds!

Day 1 – Dyno Day at ATS Diesel Performance

The Dyno competition is designed to push the limits of each competitor and their vehicle. Each truck gets strapped to the dyno and spins the rollers for the chance to put down their top number. At the end of the competition, the truck producing the highest combined horsepower and torque is the winner. Over the years we’ve seen it all from a perfect dyno pull, to catastrophic engine failures. Tune in and watch the live feed on Dyno Day to see all the action!

Day 2 – Track Day at Bandimere Speedway

Track Day at the 2019 Diesel Power Challenge is another grueling day containing multiple segments of the competition.

Trailer Tow 1/8th Mile Drag

The Trailer Tow Drag Race is a key component of the Diesel Power Challenge. In this event each competitor hooks their truck up to a loaded trailer and makes an 1/8 mile pass. A good launch and handling that additional weight are crucial in making a fast pass.

Drag Racing

The Drag Racing Portion of Track Day gives us a chance to see which truck is fastest, or which driver is most skilled. With consistent carnage on track day, we’ll see who makes the fastest 1/4 mile pass, and who doesn’t make it to the Sled Pull the following day.

Trailer Tow Obstacle Course

The Trailer Tow Obstacle Course is always a fan favorite! This obstacle course is designed to test both the patience and finesse of each driver. Each competitor hooks up to a trailer, then goes through a tight and technical obstacle course. While this one may not cause all the carnage, patience and skill are required.

Day 3 – Sled Pull

The Sled Pull is the final competition of the Diesel Power Challenge! For the trucks still in the field, this is their last chance to earn those points that could get them on the podium. Having a well-rounded truck is crucial and some are already at a disadvantage on the final day of competition. Each competitor gets a chance to hook to the sled and give it their all while attempting to pull further than the rest of the crowd. After that, the points will be totaled, and a winner is announced!

Awards Banquet

The drivers, crews, sponsors, and the Diesel Power Magazine staff all get together later in the evening as the winner of the 2019 Diesel Power Challenge is announced!
